Transition Tutorials

"The first thing you need to learn at university, is how to learn at university."

Whether you just graduated from a large high school in Saskatoon, a small town high school, or if you have been out of school for a while, the transition to university can be challenging. The academic requirements are demanding at university and figuring out the system is one of the first steps to success.

"Don't assume you can just figure it out on your own. You may be right but why do it the hard way when there are so many ways to get help?"

St. Thomas More College offers free, non-credit transition tutorials for students who want to make a smooth transition to university.

Transition Tutorials are:

  • Small groups of first year students led by upper year student coaches.
  • Free
  • A great way to meet new people and learn how to learn

Transition Tutorials cover topics like:

  • Take good notes
  • Study Skills

  • Final exams, and why they won't kill you

  • Community Engagement
  • School/work/life balance
  • There will also be social activities in each semester

Students who register for a transition tutorial and who attend a minimum of 12 tutorial sessions throughout the year will be eligible for a tuition award of $500. (One award per tutorial.)
