Redemptorist Library Collection

Ten years ago, PCUH received a donation of library materials from the Redemptorist Seminary in Yorkton, SK, consisting of 100 boxes of old unidentified literature. With funds becoming available in May 2010, this collection was transferred from the Sheptytsky Institute, where it was housed in a storage facility, to STM for initial processing. During the summer of 2010, the collection was sorted and an inventory was taken. A sample assessment of several boxes revealed that the materials represent at least five languages (Ukrainian, English, German, Latin, Polish) and an entire spectrum of publications, ranging from old books to various Ukrainian Canadian newspapers. Of particular interest is the extremely rich collection of Ukrainian folk plays and dramas, several published in Ukraine in the early decades of the 20th century, and still more published in Canada from 1910-1950.
