STM Publicly Launches Fundraising Campaign for an Endowed Academic Position in Catholic Studies

St. Thomas More College has officially launched the public phase of a fundraising campaign they are calling Inspiring Minds, which will focus on supporting a new endowed Academic Position in Catholic Studies at the college.

The Inspiring Minds campaign seeks to contribute a portion of the $2.8 million required to fully fund in perpetuity a permanent academic position that will be primarily responsible for stewarding the College's emerging Catholic Studies program. It will be the first endowed position in the liberal arts at the University of Saskatchewan.

"It's counter intuitive, perhaps, that we're a Catholic college with no formal academic position focused solely on an interdisciplinary program in Catholic studies," says Fr. George Smith, President of St. Thomas More College. "This will no longer be the case once we create a fully endowed Academic Position in Catholic Studies at our College."

The Academic Position will be filled by a scholar of significant reputation, one who will work collaboratively with both College and community partners to distinguish STM as a preeminent source of Catholic education.  It is hoped the position will be fully funded by the summer of 2013.
