Spring 2010 Convocation Lunch & Awards Ceremony Honours Newest STM Graduates
As part of the University of Saskatchewan’s convocation ceremonies held on June 1, 2010, St. Thomas More College honoured its newest graduates at a special awards luncheon at TCU Place.“This is not only a special day for our graduates,” said Fr. George Smith, C.S.B., president of St. Thomas More College, ‘but it’s an extremely important day for our College. Their success as students is a reflection of our success as a College. We are extremely proud of their ccomplishments, and we wish them every success in the future.”
Following the president's address, Dr. Carl Still, Dean of STM, and Dr. Patti McDougall, Associate Dean, facilitated the Awards presentations. The Right Reverend Monsignor Myroslav Kolodey Memorial Academic Prize, given to the STM graduate with the highest academic average, was awarded to Ingrid Wirth. The Thomas Deis '38 Prize in Scholastic Philosophy in Honour of Dr. Basil Markle S.T.D. was awarded to Quentin Plester. Two students were honoured for academic achievement and substantial contribution to the STM community. Mitchell McIvor was awarded the Thomas Deis '38 WWII Memorial Prize, and Lihn Le won the Fr. Henry Carr Award.

The ceremony concluded with remarks from Art Battiste, president of the STM-Newman Alumni Association.
“Convocation isn’t an ending,” said Battiste. “This is just the beginning of a new, lifelong relationship that these graduates are starting with the College. It’s our hope they will continue to grow socially, intellectually, spiritually and professionally through their involvement with the STM-Newman Alumni Association.”
