I would like to welcome you to St. Thomas More College, the Catholic liberal arts college federated with the University of Saskatchewan.
And now I would like you to Discover More. What does it mean to Discover More? It's a good question and, like most good questions asked at universities, there's more than one answer.
First of all it is an invitation to discover the wonders of learning in a community. At STM (as we're so often called) we believe that university learning is at its best when students discover the world of ideas with and through other people - both their professors and their fellow students. To Discover More means understanding that at STM we want students to be fully engaged in every possible aspect of the undergraduate experience. We want you to grow intellectually, culturally, socially, morally, and spiritually. We want you to discover that the benefits of a liberal education include developing skills that are fundamental and highly relevant to problem-solving and analysis, communications, decision-making and leadership. Leaders in our digital economy will tell you that the best way to prepare for a career after university is to pursue a liberal education. If you discover St. Thomas More College, you will discover what it means to become a more interesting and integrated person. People who are interesting and integrated are the people who emerge as leaders in whatever career they pursue.
But to Discover More is also an invitation to pursue a value-added education. If you are attending the University of Saskatchewan then you will benefit from studying at one of Canada's leading universities. By enrolling at STM, or taking one of our many courses in our ten academic departments, you get More out of your education. You get More for your tuition. You benefit from learning at one of our country's great universities AND at the same time you benefit from learning in a small community where it's easier to get to know your professors, other students, and, ultimately, where's it easier to get to know yourself, which is the first step towards wisdom.
So, I invite you to Discover More. Thousands of students have, and if you want to get to know some of these STM students just pick up one of our national newspapers: you will see their names and faces. They are leaders in just about every facet of Canadian society.
Dare to Discover More. We are dedicated to serving you as you do.
