Anglin Collection

The Anglin Collection is a special collection of the Shannon Library. It was established for research use and long-term preservation of publications dealing with the history of the Catholic Church in Canada. The collection includes books, periodicals, pamphlets, theses, directories and newspapers, mainly English. Originally called the Canadian Catholic Church History Collection, it was begun in the late 1960's by Fr. Alphonse de Valk, CSB. The collection was renamed "the Anglin Collection" in 1986 in honor of Fr. Gerald Anglin, CSB, one of the first two Basilians on the faculty of St. Thomas More College when it was founded in 1936, and the first to teach a course in history. For assistance in use of the Anglin Collection or on topics related to the history of the Catholic Church in Canada, consult the online catalogue or contact the Archivist, Margaret F. Sanche, at 966-8914, or the Library Director, Donna Brockmeyer at 966-8962.
