Conclusion
As noted in the Introduction, this Academic Plan has been developed as part of STM's strategic planning process, but has followed a different timeline and is subject to a distinct approval process. The Strategic Plan 2010 - 2013, entitled Renewing the Tradition, was approved by the STM Board of Governors on September 11, 2010. The Academic Plan has been developed by a planning team created by the Faculty Council; accordingly, Faculty Council is the college body responsible for adopting the Academic Plan. The Academic Plan will be brought to Faculty Council for discussion at its September, 2010 meeting and for approval at its October, 2010 meeting. Once approved by Faculty Council, the Academic Plan will go to the Board of Governors for discussion and approval of resource requirements. The approved Academic Plan will be presented to the STM Corporation meeting in November, 2010 for information.
As in the case of the Strategic Plan, the academic plan will be accompanied by an implementation plan, which will outline the lead role for each strategy, the timeline for its completion, performance indicators, and estimates of resource requirement, both in terms of hours and costs. (The comparable implementation for the 2010 - 2013 Strategic Plan can be found in the section "Roles and Resources", which appears on pp. 29-39 of Renewing the Tradition.) The implementation plan will serve as both the means and the measure by which the Academic Plan will be implemented between 2010 and 2015. As with other such plans, the Academic Plan will be subject to review on a yearly basis and amendment or updating as necessary.
